Locavore is a mobile app designed to help people find , sell, or share fresh food nearby. Designed to reduce food waste and support sustainable living, Locavore makes it easy for users to discover surplus produce in their area or offer their surplus to others. It aims to create a local food network that’s accessible, eco-friendly, and rooted in community.

Problem Statement
This project addressed the problem of disconnect between those who need fresh local produce and those who have a surplus. Inspired by my own experience with too many homegrown tomatoes, it made me think about others who might have extra produce and thoes who lack access to fresh local fruits and vegetables. This app aims to solve this by connecting these two groups, reducing waste and increasing access to fresh local produce.
Goal

Designed to reduce food waste and support sustainable living, Locavore makes it easy for users to discover surplus produce in their area or offer their surplus to others. It aims to create a local food network that’s accessible, eco-friendly, and rooted in community.
The journey began with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. After exploring all the goals, I narrowed my focus to Goals 2, 11, and 15. Ultimately, I chose to concentrate on Goal 2, which emphasizes reducing food waste.
I developed my idea further using primary and secondary research methods such as user flows, value proposition and a pestel analysis.
I began the design process by creating low-fidelity wireframes in Figma to establish the foundational structure and layout of the interface. From there, I engaged in design exploration, experimenting with various UI patterns and visual styles.

Final Result
Reflection
Originally intended as a fee platform, user interviews led to Locavore allowing flexibility in how users use the platform. This allows users to sell, donate proceeds to charity or offer produce for free, catering to diverse preferences and needs.
